ABOUT THE LVCA
LVCA’s Purpose, Benefits and Moral Expectations for LVCA Members :
LVCA 2008 Accomplishments: Our affiliate currently has sponsored (over 150) chess tournaments during years 2006-2009. We have provided for unrated tournaments for the Non-USCF beginners, 5 to 14 years of age. We have provided for rated USCF scholastic tournaments for the school age chess player, K through 12th grade. We have provided for rated open chess tournaments (for all ages) with guaranteed trophies, cash and prizes totaling over ($7000) Seven thousand dollars from 2006-present. Players who have participated in our major events range from 5 years of age to senior citizens.
What does the LVCA Provide that other chess clubs lack:
1. A safe and friendly environment for both children and adults to play chess in with the intent to provide for the basics of mental competition and development in an environment promoting good sportsmanship.
2. To encourage the basis for long term friendships that will extend into the community and the future through the common experience of the game of chess.
3. To establish an atmosphere for learning through chess while having good clean fun.
*NEW*4. To aid in the development of each others chess ability by providing support and direction and shared knowlege through practice and discussions while engaging in varius types of USCF rated events.
