IM Bryan Smith is one of
Pennsylvania’s and the USA’s most promising chess masters. He won the U.S. Masters in
2006 and played in the US Championship in 2007.
Then in November, 2008, at the National Chess Congress in Philadelphia, Bryan
won clear first catapulting him to a US Chess Federation Rating of 2561. Currently, he is ranked as 42nd in the United States and ranked at 39th in international play (FIDE list) of all active USA players over the last year. We support Bryan in meeting his first GM norm. |

HOW
OFTEN DOES A CHESSPLAYER EVER GET TO PLAY A HIGH RATED MASTER?
WELL,
HONESTLY, NOT VERY OFTEN! FOR
SOME IT’S A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY!
NOW “YOU” WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO SAY, ….
“
I ONCE PLAYED A TOP NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RANKED MASTER.”
Bryan told LVCA President, Bruce Davis,
Sr., "In competing in the Lehigh Valley August
Championship recently, I played some very promising, extremely
under-rated players who gave me a very tough time. I hope to give these
and other such players a chance to test themselves and some food for thought on
how to get better at chess. Hopefully it will inspire them to keep
playing, just as my first simultaneous as a kid did for me."
